Unity Prototype Games

Timeframe: May 2021 - June 2021

Learning Unity has been a goal of mine for some time now, and I'm proud to be able to say that I've finally taken my first few steps toward becoming a Unity game developer. Through Unity's free learning site, I recently completed a ~42 hour introductory course which taught me the basics of Unity and C#. All of the assets (art and music) were provided to me through the tutorial, but all of the code and scene creation was done by me as a part of the course.

I intend to continue honing my skills as a Unity programmer so that I can bring my indie game development to the next level.

Below you will find a link to my UnityPlay page from which you will be able to load and play the prototypes that I've built, as-well as a link to my GitHub which contains all of the respective repositorys.

Badger Textbooks

Timeframe: January 2021 - May 2021

This application was the product of a semester long class focused on learning the ins-and-outs of software engineering. The class divided the students into 6 person teams, and we were then tasked with developing one of our original software ideas as the semester project. Our team followed a modified waterfall SDL.

Our team decided to develop a React web-app that was designed for UW-Madison students to easily sell their textbooks to other UW students. Some features of our application include creating and searching through textbook listings, an in-house chat system, and a responsive user-interface. The project was a success, and it was a great experience.

Technologies Used: VSCode, JavaScript, React, Material-UI, Firebase, Github

HallowTown

Timeframe: April 2020 - May 2020

Each and every CS class I took at the UW taught me valuable concepts and I genuinely enjoyed all of them, but if I had to choose an absolute favorite class, it would have to be CS559: Computer Graphics. This class introduced me to the world of computer graphics, and throughout the semester I worked on various projects that covered a wide range of topics.

My favorite project, however, was the final semester project in which we were tasked with developing a "Graphics Town" by combining all the skills we had learned thus far. I decided to go with a Halloween themed world that included a haunted playground, a spooky graveyard, and a giant Skeleton! My project was then selected to be 1 of 6 to be showcased on the class homepage for future classes to reference!

Technologies Used: VSCode, JavaScript, HTML, THREE.js, Github

Final Defender: The Last Stand

Timeframe: June 2019 - Present

As an avid gamer, it had always been a dream of mine to design and develop a game of my very own. This project is the product of that ambition. For inspiration, I drew from one of my favorite arcade games: Galaga. You will see some similar themes between my game and this timeless classic. To complete this project, I learned the basics of the Swift programming language, and also utilized Photoshop to create original art.

The main development for the game was completed during the summer after my Sophomore year at UW-Madison, and the game is available for download through the Apple App Store on iOS devices. I continue to monitor its playability and update it as needed.

Technologies Used: XCode, Swift, Photoshop

Food Query Application

Timeframe: Sept 2018 - Dec 2018

For my first major project, I worked as a part of a team of 4 to develop an application that met specified requirements as a part of my Programming III course at the UW. Our application featured a functional (and stylish!) GUI and a B+ tree to manage data storage on the back-end. The application searched through a database of food items based on certain search requirements, and displayed the relevant information to the user through the UI.

To complete the project, our team regularly met in person, and utilized pair programming in order to correctly implement the necessary features.

Technologies Used: Eclipse, Java, Git
